WHAT TO EXPECT

For Our Outpatient Surgery Patients

Before Your Surgery

Registration and Testing
All paperwork and medical testing are completed in advance of the procedure. Medical tests are usually done at Cortland Regional Medical Center or at an off-site location. Your physician's office will schedule an appointment for your pre-admission testing within seven days of your procedure.

Where to Park

The most convenient parking is in the Outpatient Surgery parking lot on the corner of W. Main St. and Homer Ave. Additional parking is available across the street in the W. Main St. parking  lot. All parking is free of charge.

What to Expect

The registration and testing procedure involve several steps:
  1. Please report to registration on the third floor  (use Outpatient Surgery entrance).
  2. You will be asked to verify all information and complete other forms as necessary.
  3. You will be interviewed by a registered nurse. The nurse will review your medical history, discuss what will happen on the day of your surgery, and give you any special pre-operative or post-operative instructions. All questions you have will be answered.
  4. You will speak to the anesthesiologist.
  5. You will have several standard medical tests, plus any other special tests your doctor has ordered.
  6. You may eat or drink what you like before these tests unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
  7. Other consultations that may be necessary will be arranged in the same area and may include: social work services, financial counseling, or rehabilitation services.

Our Pledge to You

What can you expect from us? We are committed to providing high quality health services that meet your needs. We want you to know what you can expect from us:

Patient Responsibilities

At Cortland Regional Medical Center, providing you with quality health care is our main goal. Thank you for choosing us. To help us better care for you, we ask that you...

Tell us as much as you can about:

You may need to answer a lot of questions about your health and medical history. Your answers help your healthcare team plan your care. Try to give complete answers.

Talk with your doctor or nurse about changes in how you feel. Tell them how well your pain is being relieved. Tell them how well you understand your treatment plan and your pain management plan.

Follow instructions

Getting well depends on it! If you have questions, just ask. Follow the treatment plan that you and your  doctor have made.

Tell the Doctor or Nurse if you want to refuse treatment

Be sure to tell your doctor or nurse if you are going to refuse a treatment or procedure.

Follow hospital rules and treat others with respect

You deserve respect. So do the staff, other patients and visitors.  Please control noise and the number of visitors you have.  Be respectful of others belongings and hospital property.

Your Hospital Bill

Cortland Regional Medical Center is committed to caring for patients, regardless of their ability to pay for services. Hospital expenses can be daunting, especially to those who do not have insurance to pay for them. That is why we have trained financial counselors to help you understand your financial responsibility and the payment options available to you.

Patients are responsible for paying their hospital bills, even if they have inadequate medical insurance, or no insurance at all. Payment plans are available to all patients. In addition, CRMC financial counselors can help patients find other ways to pay for their medical care. Our on-site facilitated enroller can assist eligible patients with enrollment in healthcare insurance programs such as Medicaid, Child Health Plus, or Family Health Plus.

Some patients may be eligible for financial aid. CRMC financial counselors can review a patient’s income and resources to help determine if full or partial financial aid is available.

Our financial counselors are happy to answer any questions you may have. They can be contacted at (607) 756-3530, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
